Blackout curtain fabrics are primarily characterised as being lightproof, i.e. blocking out 100% of light, and are therefore totally light-obscuring. No light gets through, not even at over 75,000 lux.
According to the EN14501 standard, blackout curtain fabrics have a blackout level of 3.
These blackout curtain fabrics are completely blackout because the textile carrier is coated with several layers of acrylic (white, black and white).
To clarify what we mean by blackout curtain fabrics, at Indetex, we distinguish between ‘blackout’ and ‘dimout’ curtain fabrics. If the end user is looking for a total blackout of light, we refer them to our blackout curtain fabrics. If the end user is looking for more of a light-reducing effect, on the other hand, we point them towards our dimout curtain fabrics.
